Patricia Torres, co-owner of Bee Mindful Behavioral Health, LLC and Board Certified Doctoral Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, has been dedicated to the field of psychiatry since 2014 after graduating with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas El Paso. She then passionately displayed her impressive work ethic and appreciation for mental health wellness at both El Paso Behavioral Health and Rio Vista Behavioral Health, holding positions from acute psychiatric floor nurse to nursing supervisor roles. 

Driven by the rewarding role of caring for vulnerable patient populations, she went on to receive her Masters for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Maryville University in 2020 and later her Doctoral Nurse Practitioner in 2023. 

She then dived into serving the community of El Paso as the first Nurse Practitioner hired at La Mente Behavioral Health where she worked tirelessly within the growing company for three years attending to outpatient psychiatric needs of various mental health conditions. Inspired to continue paving her own journey and serving the community to the fullest extent, she teamed up with her close friend and Bee Mindful Co-Owner, Sulema Martinez, and opened up their very own clinic, Bee Mindful Behavioral Health, under the experienced medical direction of the well respected psychiatrist Dr. Arthur Ramirez. 

During her free moments, she rejuvenates by spending time with her family, including her beloved husband, son, six Chihuahuas, one Cane Corso, a short haired tabby cat, and several guppies. 

 Sulema Martinez is the co-owner and administrative director of Bee Mindful Behavioral Health, LLC. With more than 22 years of experience in the healthcare field, she enriches the clinic with a wide breadth of knowledge and skillset. Born and raised in El Paso, Sulema kicked off her career in the healthcare industry soon after graduating from Bel Air High School by achieving her Medical Assistant (MA) Certification. She later gained education and experience in billing, coding, contracting, and credentialing and is expecting to graduate from nursing school in December 2023 from El Paso Community College. 

She credits much of her success to her mentor and dear friend, the late Dr. Christopher J. Powers, who began her career by employing her as an entry level MA at his OBGYN practice and encouragingly supported her continuing education within healthcare administration, resulting in her eventual promotion to office manager. She has the utmost gratitude for the instrumental role Dr. Powers and his wife, Peggy, have played in her life. Even after Dr. Power’s early passing in 2012, Peggy Azar Powers has continued to support Sulema’s career goals, including granting her the Chris Powers Scholarship Fund in 2022-2023 for her nursing education. 

She began working in the field of behavioral health in 2017 and passionately found her calling, nurtured by the principles of care instilled in her by the Powers family. Sulema was granted a second scholarship for nursing school through the Joseph B. Karam Scholarship for single mothers in 2022-2023, which she attributes to her miracle son, Christopher, namesake of Dr. Powers. She also expresses gratitude for Bonita Johnson at El Paso Community Foundation who guided and advocated for her through both scholarships. Sulema has held deep appreciation for hard work and dedication since she was a child, living below the poverty line, while looking up to her mother who single-handedly raised her and her 4 siblings. 

These experiences encourage her to continue building meaningful relationships with clients and patients through providing quality services, interprofessional collaboration, and service to the community of El Paso.
